Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 30, 2026

In plain English

Klipp does not upload your video. It does not collect personal data. There are no analytics, no trackers, no developer-run servers, and no account system. Every video you import, every clip you export, every edit you apply happens entirely on your device.

1. Data we collect

None. Klipp does not collect personal data. The app contains no analytics SDKs, no telemetry, no crash reporters, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party tracking of any kind. There is no account system — you are not asked to sign up, sign in, or provide an email address.

The developer operates no servers and no database of user records. There is nothing for us to lose, sell, or share, because there is nothing to begin with.

2. How your videos are processed

When you pick a video from your Photo Library, Klipp uses Apple's AVFoundation framework to read, trim, crop, rotate, filter, and watermark it on your device. No video bytes are uploaded to any server, including the developer's. Klipp does not require an internet connection to import, edit, or export.

Temporary files created during editing are written to the app's private temporary directory and removed by iOS when the system needs the space, or immediately when you close the editor.

3. Exported clips

When you tap Export, Klipp writes the resulting clips to your Photos library using Apple's PhotoKit framework. They become regular videos in your Photos app — owned by you, on your device, syncable through your private iCloud Photos if you have that enabled by Apple.

Klipp does not retain a copy of any clip. After export, you control the files.

4. Smart Crop

Smart Crop analyzes frames of your video to detect the focal point of each clip. The analysis runs entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. Frames are not uploaded, and the model is Apple-provided and runs locally on your iPhone's neural engine.

5. In-app purchases

Klipp 1.0 has no in-app purchases. Every feature is free. If a future version introduces an optional Pro upgrade, this section will be updated and any purchase will go through Apple's StoreKit — the developer will never see your billing information, payment method, or Apple Account email.

6. Third-party services

Klipp does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-broker services. The only "third parties" involved are Apple platform services used as ordinary iOS primitives:

AVFoundation PhotoKit Vision StoreKit BGTaskScheduler

These are governed by Apple's privacy policy and your Apple Account terms, not by the developer of Klipp.

7. Third-party trademarks

Klipp is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC, Meta Platforms Inc., TikTok Ltd., Snap Inc., Google LLC, or any of their subsidiaries. Names such as WhatsApp Status, Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe compatibility — Klipp produces clip sizes and durations tailored to each platform's accepted format.

8. Children's privacy

Klipp is rated 4+ in the App Store but is a general-purpose video tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because the app collects no personal information at all (see Section 1). This is consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

9. GDPR & CCPA notes

Because Klipp collects no personal data, the developer does not act as a data controller or data processor for users in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, or California. Videos and exported clips exist only on your device (and, optionally, in your own iCloud Photos, where Apple is the data processor and you are the data controller).

Your rights under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection) and the CCPA / CPRA (know, delete, correct, opt out, non-discrimination) therefore apply to data on your own device:

10. Data retention

The developer does not retain any of your data because the developer never receives any of your data. On your device:

11. iOS permissions Klipp may request

Each permission is requested only when needed for a specific feature, and you can revoke any of them at any time in iOS Settings.

Photo Library (read)

Required to import the video you want to split. Klipp respects partial library access — you can grant access to specific videos only.

Photo Library (save)

Required to write exported clips back to your Photos library. Klipp does not save anywhere else.

Background tasks

Used so a long export can finish even if you switch apps. Tasks are scheduled with iOS BGTaskScheduler and consume no network.

Klipp does not request: Camera, Microphone, Location, Contacts, Tracking (IDFA), Bluetooth, Health, or any networking-only entitlements.
